Economic Evaluations/Project Screening

Example 1

Economic evaluations of oil & gas investments are necessary to get the best return on your investment....Cash flow evaluations like those illustrated below can help an investor decide on whether or not other investments (like stocks and mutual funds) would provide a better rate of return.

The following cash flow evaluation is of a prospect in the Badlands of North Dakota....The Badlands area has high operating costs because of permafrost, geothermal flow of reservoir fluids (sometimes molten salt and paraffin) into the stock tanks, and the expense of being a remote location....The example below models the cash flow economics for production of near critical fluids (volatile oil or retrograde gas condensate) to the surface....No artificial lift (rod pump or gas lift) is considered in the example scenario....The oil and gas pricing schedules are fictitious....The example illustrates a Before & After Tax Format output.
